Activity 3 – Language of technical specifications
- Technical and scientific English. The language of physical descriptions. Ss are given general and common vocabulary and expressions used when describing the physical properties and characteristics of a product. Ss have to complete sentences, do a multiple choice and choose right options in different short exercises (OUT OF CLASS). Module 2-Task 2-Activity 3a
- Compound nouns in specifications. Ss are provided with the main tips to both understand and write noun compounds (OUT OF CLASS). Module 2-Task 2-Activity 3b
- The key means to achieve an impersonal tone in technical documents and specifications are explained, like different kinds of passive structures and impersonal statements introduced with impersonal pronoun ‘it’. Ss are then required to write sentences to practice all the structures covered. The impersonal tone will have to be used in the technical specifications they will subsequently have to write (OUT OF CLASS). Module 2-Task 2-Activity 3c
